Ukraine hits US stocks
FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks closed mixed on Friday and the week as investors are concerned about news that Ukraine's troops attacked part of Russia convoy.
At the middle of the session stocks were trading at highs when news from Ukraine took the wires and sent major indexes down on the session. The Dow Jones was trading as high as 61 points at this moment but it collapsed in matter of minutes to -138 after the news.
However, stocks rebounded off lows and closed mixed on the day. Nasdaq turned positive just before the closing bell. The Composite and S&P performed its best week in six.
The Dow Jones fell 50.67 points or 0.30% in the day to close at 16,662.91; positive 0.66% in the week. The S&P 500 eased 0.12 points or 0.01% to 1,955.06; finishing 1.22% up in the week.
The Nasdaq advanced 11.92 pts or 0.27% to 4,464.93 on Friday with the Composite wrapping up the week 2.15% positive.
