ECB's Draghi: ECB can cut rates if needed, consider asset purchases
The ECB head Mario Draghi, speaking at an economic conference organized by De Nederlandsche Bank in Amsterdam says that inflation in the Eurozone could rise on dropping interest rates.
• “Rising euro reflects the return of confidence,” the ECB chief stresses, adding that it could affect the central bank's policy stance.
• The ECB could cut rates further, extend fixed-rate full-allotment, and provide more liquidity should the need arise.
• The central bank “"is committed--unanimously--to using both unconventional and conventional instruments to deal effectively with the risks of a too prolonged period of low inflation."
• The Governing Council is considering the publication of minutes form the monetary policy meetings.
