AUD/USD retreats sharply despite risk appetite
FXStreet (Córdoba) - AUD/USD failed to hold to gains and pulled back sharply. The pair rose during the Asian session toward 0.7500. On European hours peaked at 0.7496 boosted by risk appetite but then the US dollar woke up and pushed it from 0.7490 toward 0.7400.
The aussie bottomed at 0.7415, slight above yesterday’s lows. The area around the lows was tested several times during the last hours but so far it held above. Currency it trades at 0.7425, less than 20 pips below yesterday’s closing price.
Greenback strengthened in the market during the last hour and erased losses and rose particularly against commodity currencies, despite risk appetite in the markets. In Wall Street the Dow Jones is rising 1.30% and the Nasdaq gains 1.50%. European markets are about to end at session highs with gains from 1.40% to 3.30%.
